Is it all about awards?
April 07|2003

There is a lot ads that don't win, but does that make them failures. The client comes in and says "you still have my business because our profits skyrocketed 600% thanks to you. Here's a ticket to success; your client loves you and is willing to take a step further because they trust you. That's when you have the opportunity to shine, so maybe next year, you'll be up there collecting awards. It pays off, eventually.

Everyone wants to be number one, but what happened to self-pride and accomplishment. I hope people can still be proud and satisfied of what they've done, without an award. It would be nice to be recognized, though.

"Pedro, about your last question. I'm sure you know the answer to that.

But here's my question to you or anyone else: would you want to earn 60K at a decent shop and feel rejuvenated, every day. Or would want to earn 85K at one of the best shops and feel miserable to the point that you hate it there. What's more important to you?"

"Here's a thought... if we all end up reading the same material, we're all going to know the same thing. But then again, it enriches us to become a stronger community. It's all comes down to individual interpretation."

"Read Cutting Edge Advertising for Print by Jim Aitchison. If you have it, read it again. Dude, award winning advertising builds brands. Award winning advertising is the difference between making 60K a year and 120K.

Which do you want?"
