Portfolios.com - Update
April 13|2003

It's that time again folks! Over the weekend, I finally had some time to put my ideas into digital form. They're in the bottom left corner (click link) for you to see and judge my latest material.

The first one is for a product called Optico Wipes. I decided to take a surrealistic approach, emphasizing its benefit.

The second one, well personally, I'd prefer to be judged on the idea, rather than the execution. I wanted it to be as REAL as you'd witness it. This could have been an entire campaign, but I couldn't get people to model for me this weekend. I'm sure if the idea works, then I can arrange a photo-shoot in the future. I could definitely make it more dramatic!

As always, I'm open to all your suggestions. Please don't think that I'm not listening. Because I do, truely appreciate your feedback.

"That could work with the tagline. Why not try it to see?"

"Hey URHO.
That's an interesting angle you justed pointed out. I think it would have worked if I actually added a tagline "You're tinted, no worries".

By placing the biz card with a call-to-action tagline, It's telling you something you should consider.
But, if this nose picker did have tinted windows, he's be doing himself and the person that spotted him, a huge favour. Haven't you ever witnessed someone digging in like it was snack food? And wished you haven't seen that."

"Looks like you shot the car from the outside, which gives the impression that someone outside of the car can see the man picking his nose, which means the tinting is not offering any benefit i.e not private because we can see him.

A better shot from inside the car, with traffic seen sitting through the glass, but oblivious to the actions going on inside, would be better.

Keep at it."

"Tinting your windows is a form of privacy. "What you do is your business". Why do you have to share any action with others around you. Why not keep your habits to yourself, instead of facing humiliation or conflict. Tinting looks cool, but also serves its purpose.

Anyway, I appreciate your feedback."

"hi Alek,
just went on to portfolios.com to see the new stuff you posted. i must say, i commend you for placing your portfolio online. you are a brave guy. some of the critics out there are pretty brutal and get personal. i would like to offer you my comments: i don't know if a benefit of getting your windows tinted would be that people wouldn't see you picking your nose. although humourous, i'm sure it's not a reason people get them done. i can see how it would roll out, you could probably do one with someone singing to themselves, maybe picking their teeth. at this point i can only offer you criticism, i have no solution for you other than maybe pick a different benefit.
as for the glass wipes, i can't relate.
i like your other stuff, the toronto climbing club ones are great."

"I like them. The Optico wipes are great. Simple and totally illustrate what they're for and why they're good. The second one has a really strong concept. You're right, just shoot it better and it'll be great."
