| "Hey "Toasted oats".
I appreciate you taking the time to answer my question. I passed this on to my bud, who's very grateful for that. I'm sure he could use some of these tips to get him started. Thanx for your comments guys!" Posted by alek on April 15/2003 "at least one long copy piece - not solely for the sake of writting long copy, but one that actually makes sense and is worth the read.
two if you've got a great idea. headlines are important, as are visually driven concepts - at least one campaign of each composed of three. magazine style ads are important as well. headline - tagline - and enough copy to make a statement. perhaps one campaign and maybe a few one-offs? as for radio - sure, but you'd better be prepared to perform it. tv is no good on paper. unless of course, it's been produced and you haven't a copy to show. quantity? well it's no secret that quality supercedes mass, but as a newby to the industry cd's are gonna wanna see more. i'd aim for 12 - 15. you got to show you can write - and well. any joe can scribble nonsense - re: this posting - so this joe's advise would be to study the award annuals. dissect those works to find what makes them a great read, and deserving of accolades. and it wouldn't hurt to pick up book or two written by douglas adams, kurt vonnegut, or irvine welsh. but that's just my humble opinion. go on enough interviews and you'll figure it out, too."
