Difference btwn direct and general
Posted on 2007-Mar-15 at 12:06
This chat was a response to IHAI.org's interview with the 3 Co-CCO of Ogilvy NYC's interview.

Stu: dude they talking about intergration
Stu: seeet
Stu: sweet
Stu: i dont get, even what the difference is with a dircet, direct peorson and a generl person, its still print or tv, direct does tv, also the only real diff is interactive cuz we arnt trained in that but i can du tv. direct or traditional there really isnt any diffrence
Stu: so dumb
Ben: true, but direct is really meant for a more immediate CTA (call to action) and more one-on-one CRM (customer relation management)
Stu: direct is just folding a print ad

Ben: general is more brand advertising... no 1-800 # or call now! or buy now!
Stu: but they ahve cahnged that, hence the difference.
Ben: ya totally. it's getting blended
Stu: beyod blended
Stu: i think tthe real difference is if yer a writer, no an art director
Ben: like those Optimum cable TV spots... with the 1800 number on the btm stripe.. thaz considered direct. but then Amalgamated also does brand advertising for Steven Madden
Stu: true
Ben: this is good blog material

A Meaningful Chat with Stu
Posted on 2007-Mar-7 at 04:06
The following conversation took place between 10:24AM and 10:40AM.

10:24 AM

Ben: ur up n early

10:25 AM
Stu: ?
Ben: i usually didnt get in until 10 30 at DXXXB
(edited for privacy)
Stu: rilly

Ben: u trying to work hard to prove something?
Stu: yu must not have beeen busy
Ben: i was but i get work done
Stu: i alwyas have stuff going to client first thing and i dont liek sating late soo
Ben: ya u have a family now

Ben: so r u gonna miss SXth   (edited for privacy, another classmate)
Stu: i never see him
Ben: dont u sit together n play foosball
Stu: nope, im always busy, and he is never here

Stu: he is gunna learn a harsh reality at ArnXXX  (edited for privacy)
Ben: that jrs execute lots design. But the CCO is artcenter guy, will help him out
Stu: no he wont. thay paying him more so they expect more
Stu: honestly, if i came here first, i would never know how hard avertising really is, like hours and work wise and pulling all nighers literally. people here think late is like 10 pm
Ben: so u miss xxxx
Stu: i just miss actually working ard hard, noit used ot rolling in at ten and leaving at 530, thats not advertising
Ben: u wanted easier life with more pay and medical!

Ben: i'd like to work at smaller shops where i'd have more control over what i do
Stu: exactly
Ben: i don't mind being busy and staying late
Stu: more control is key an not big clients where a monkey could du the art directon
Ben: well depending on the client. ya, big clients r more reserved and conservative
Stu: ya
Ben: and also all pre-templated
Stu: they give you, the logos, the type and the point size, why the fuck du then need anart director, everythong i did at XXX was form scratch
Ben: ya i wanna do that. let's return to xxxx think he'll take us back, after our bashing on the blog?

Ben: id go somewhere else small
Stu: not there, did what i could there, lerned all i could
Ben: TAXI
Stu: i dont really knwo what taxi even does, its a name, but where is the work
Ben: Amped Mobile.. they want real hybrid teams

10:40 AM
Stu: hyperid
Ben: aint no agency in NYC is doing great creative hybrid work, is there?

Making the front page
Posted on 2007-Mar-7 at 11:08
Yesterday all 4 of my new entries made front-page of the Adblogs section on IHAI.org.

Ok this entry serves more like a filler to bump up my new blog on IHAI.org. But after all, this site is giving away iTunes gift cards to the blogger with most entries! I need my music! Maybe I'll share some with Stu. My BBF.

PS: People are so freaking serious these days. Advertising is about fun!

O-M-G!
Posted on 2007-Mar-6 at 02:37
So I started this blog, my first ever ad blog or just a blog, for fun and dedicating it to Stu. And just now, Stuy from Family Guy just happens to appear in the Random Fuel Game section on this blog template!

Coincidence? I think not.
