| On Tuesday I'm flying out to LA to shoot my commercial!!!!!! Yes, I sold my first commercial and I am RIDICULOUSLY ecstatic!!! After a full summer working on this account, with high emotions, many rounds, and a waste basket overflowing with great ideas that never got to see the light of day, finally the payoff makes it seem worth it. My partner and I were committed to being the team that got the commercial. And we worked hard for it too. I'm talking about early mornings, late nights, and weekends - blood, sweat, and tears. Now we just want to shoot... | |

| What a cool ad. Posted by Michael on Thu 9 Oct 2008 at 01.47.00 pm | |
| I just came across this ad for the new Wario Land game for Wii. I was actually watching several other ads along this line last week and thought, "While the game looks neat if I were back in junior high (I'm just not a gamer anymore), the ad is a total snooooooze!" So when I started watching this ad, I thought, "Booooooring! Times 5!" But just to be a trooper I stuck it out. I'm glad I did. You will be, too. Invest 45* seconds of your day into viewing this ad: http://www.youtube.com/experiencewii *plus load time (will vary) ... | |

| HOW'D YOU GET IN: Lee Garfinkel Posted by Brendan on Wed 8 Oct 2008 at 09.53.00 am | |
| Let's talk a walk down memory lane with the Chairman & Chief Creative Officer of DDB New York. His credits include the original Cindy Crawford Pepsi spot, the infamous "Shady Acres" commercial (also from Pepsi), and asking "What's a portfolio?" in his first interview. What's interesting though is that Lee Garfinkel is not alone in asking that question. In the coming weeks you'll see that a lot of today's advertising leaders came into the industry before the advent of ad schools. Back then it was difficult to be in the know, when it comes to breaking into the industry. Many of... | |

| A spark becomes reality. Posted by LEBOW on Mon 6 Oct 2008 at 04.50.00 pm | |
| The last few weeks have been a whirlwind. For months, I have been working on a new idea and finally it has become a reality. Some were wondering why my blog has been quiet, and it’s because I was putting the final touches on what I hope to be a very successful side business. For years, I have been shaving my head. Every time I looked in the mirror, I wondered if I could get paid to put one of my client’s logos on it and walk around as a human billboard. One day, the industry press ran a story on an... | |

| Making the Sky the Best Place on Earth. Posted by eustaciaK on Sun 5 Oct 2008 at 01.04.00 am | |
| Air France (airfrance.us) has recently produced an ad campaign that stands out in the cluttered and bruised industry of airline transportation today. The images and art direction are breathtaking. The copy is seductive and smart. And the tag line is the ultimate win to me, MAKING THE SKY THE BEST PLACE ON EARTH. Simply put, this is a brilliant (and beautiful) campaign. And as much as I appreciate the overall beauty of the campaign, my account strategist mind will always ask what's the so what? What's the WIFM. As in what's-in-it-for-me/the... | |

| Una limonada Posted by Michael on Fri 3 Oct 2008 at 05.33.00 pm | |
| Empowered with the type of ambition that crumples under any type of personal discomfort, I began my day early one Friday morning feeling determined. That my ambition started on a Friday suggested it had already ended. One day of early rising and it was already time for the weekend! Fueled with the surge of ambition, I was a little more confident with my driving. I drove a little faster. Crept up on intersections a little less and thought, “What the heck. I’ll take a little more faith in this ‘stop at all intersections’ rule.” Sometimes my thinking is a little too linear... | |

| Orientation at the Creative Circus Posted by Michael on Thu 2 Oct 2008 at 08.49.00 pm | |
| Today was orientation for the fall quarter at the Creative Circus. We were introduced to everyone who works there and were pumped up to start classes on Monday. There was a wealth of information shared with us, but only a few really resonate in my mind as I write this. 1. Don't be a dick (or if you have virgin ears, "be nice"). Be nice because reputations are built rather quickly. And despite popular belief, the advertising world is a small one. 2. Don't compete. This was my biggest concern entering the school. I'm not a competitive person. I just like... | |
