| Update from day 2
May 22|2005
My day started with a 4 hour session at the pool. I feel my color is coming back. If you didn't know, I am actually black, but since I've moved to Canada I've become a whity. Thank god I feel my sweat glands working again.
After that we had a good session with Shoot Magazine about The Best Work You May Never See. 25% of the work they showed came from Canada (it was only like 15 spots). It all came from Reginald Pike from the Perlorian Brothers (Read interview) and Yael Staav.
I have to go soon but the big lesson out of that session is that speck spots should become more liberated. Young directors should specialize and break from the :30 chains and do 2 minute stuff, viral stuff etc, if they want to get break in.
After that we followed it up with Tom and Terry's take on the Wild Wild West and everything that is changing in the radio advertising industry, which included the use of profanities and the emergence of Satellite Radio. Their presentation was incredible (as expected) and very well researched. They talked about branded entertainment and how things like podcasts is going to become part of mainstream advertising. To prove their point they podcasted their entire session. If you want to hear just click here to download the podcast.
After that we went to eat Mexican in a super Latin section of time and now we have 10 minutes to get dressed and get out to a fancy hotel for 30 minutes of cocktails to then head back to the Lifetime Achievement Ceremony for our pal John Hegarty, and then righty afterward we go straight to the post lifetime achievement award party.
Busy Busy!
