Wieden + Kennedy, London takes TV Grand Clio for Honda ‘Grrr;’ while Crispin Porter + Bogusky, FL; and TBWA\Worldwide, respectively, took home the prestigious honors
MIAMI—8:00PM, May 24, 2005—Wieden + Kennedy’s Honda Diesel ‘Grrr,’ a captivating animated 90 second TV commercial that is already motoring through the industry with praise, has walked off with this year’s Grand Clio for TV. Meanwhile, this year’s Executive Radio Jury did not name a Grand Clio. Crispin Porter + Bogusky has been named Clio’s 2005 Agency of the Year, and TBWA\Worldwide, 2005 Agency Network of the Year.
The Clio Executive TV Jury Chair Mark Tutssel, Deputy Chief Creative Officer, Leo Burnett Worldwide, awarded the Grand Clio during the TV & Radio Awards Gala at the Jackie Gleason Theater here. The Gala concludes this year’s International Clio Festival, held from May 21 through May 24, 2005.
This year’s Clio Agency of the Year, Crispin Porter + Bogusky won one Grand, four gold, two silver and six bronze Clios, in all, giving it an undeniable lead with a total of 26 points. Taxi, Canada was second with 19 points; and AlmapBBDO, Brazil and Goodby Silverstein & Partners, US, tied for third place with 13 points.
TBWA\Paris’ and TBWA\Chiat\Day’s tallies of 12 and 11 points, respectively, helped drive TBWA\Worldwide to first place—making it Clio’s 2005 Agency Network of the Year. The network won with 44 points followed by BBDO with 40 points and DDB Worldwide with 38 points. The awards are made by a weighted computer ranking, where agencies earn one point for a bronze, two for silver, three for gold, and four for a Grand Clio or a Hall of Fame award.
The U.S. led in total statues with 102, followed by Germany with 31, England with 29, Canada with 22, France with 19, Argentina with 12, Australia, Brazil and South Africa with 10 and Thailand and Singapore with 9. |
