AD CELEBRITY BOOK LISTS Chris Staples, Founder and Creative Director, Rethink.

Chris Staples is the founder and creative director of Rethink in Vancouver, one of North America’s most celebrated creative shops. Before turning Rethink into the award-amassing agency it is today, Chris was the creative director of DDB Canada Vancouver (formerly PJDDB)… basically helping turn that place into the award amassing agency it is today.

Rethink is just moving into a spacious office less susceptible to condo developer wrecking balls. We asked Chris as he packed all his stuff into cardboard boxes which ten books will he be putting up on his brand new bookshelf.

CREATIVITY Idea Industry: How to Crack the Advertising Career Code
By: Brett Robbs & Deborah Morrison

It's been quite some time since I have come across such a well rounded book about the ad industry. Idea Industry is a great read and perfect for someone interested in a career in advertising (and especially someone not sure which career path to take into it). This book does a great job profiling Creative, Account Planning, Account Management, Media, Digital Media and Production. It also finishes up quite nicely with a few little extras like a detailed look at writing an advertising resume and tips for an advertising interview.

Idea Industry was written by Brett Robbs and Deborah Morrison, from the University of Colorado at Boulder and the University of Oregon respectively. It was published by The One Club.

AD CELEBRITY BOOK LISTS Luke Sullivan, Senior Vice President, Group Creative Director, GSD&M

Ask anybody in the business -from ad school hopeful to Worldwide Creative Director - to name their favorite books on advertising, and you're guaranteed to hear multiple mentions of Luke Sullivan’s "Hey Whipple, Squeeze This!" Even our last ad celebrity put this 'ad Bible' on his own Top Ten list.

So that got us at ihaveanidea thinking. If everybody loves Luke's book so much, what kinds of books does Luke himself enjoy? We asked him for his top ten picks. I think he went past ten, but when you get Mr. Sullivan going, you don’t really want him to stop.
